923 Dive Lounge – San Diego Gaslamp

By  |

Most clubs are giant places with tons of people.  Lots of noise and lots going on right?   Well San Diego, welcome to 923.  It is the polar opposite of the insane club scene.  The have coined themselves, ‘ San Diego’s Last True Speakeasy’.   This couldn’t be more accurate.   The decor is made up of local artist’s work. The ‘booths’ have soft pillows as seats and your table?  A skateboard.  They have a DJ spinning on most nights as do other other clubs, play similar music, but here, you have more intimacy with an ultra cool vibe.  This place just reeks of awesomeness and is perfect because it is under the radar.   They are open at 8, Wednesday – Sunday, but the crowd doesn’t get there til after 10 PM.  We had a chance to sit down with one of the owners, Greg and have a few drinks.  We asked how he come up with the concept.  He said it was simple.  “I was sick of going to clubs and having to yell at the top of my lungs to talk to someone and then half the time, loose them across the room.  I hated having to wait 10 minutes to get a drink and be treated like a number”.  At 923, you will never wait long for a drink; myself and Chris, (co-owner) are the bartenders and welcome everyone into our home”.  So, if you want a place with chill people, a chill atmosphere and chill prices, get down to 923.  It is Rollin’ approved.  Stay tuned Rollers, more to come on them soon!  TMTMTL@RollinSD.com
